Floating World

by Lavallin

Lee Lucas An album that crosses many continents and countries with its style and flow of the music upon it, taking in mainly African & Asian culture and other forms of world music and fusing it all together. Graham focuses more on percussion and rhythms and land, rather than soundscapes and space that was on his debut album. It's another fine body of work over the 14 tracks over a time of the 79 minutes you get here, and a very magical journey across the world well worthy of taking on. Highly recommended. Favorite track: Listens With Owls (Lavallin).

about

I'm an armchair traveller ... never travelled the world, except in my imagination ... never wished to fly and never had the time or the money to spare to go on a world cruise ... though I quite like the idea I have to say.

This album, like 'Stepping Stones To The Stars' before it, is another imaginary journey but, this time, firmly based on this our own planet Earth and is a collection of world music inspired tracks which are a whistle-stop, cinematic tour of some of the exotic parts of the world I have only read about or seen on TV documentaries.
The journey starts as a daydream in a deckchair on a beach, then drifting in the mind in a dug-out canoe on a fast flowing river in central Africa and the rich beauty of African skies, travelling on through the magic of the Middle East to the gateway to India, up, up and away to the roof of the World then beyond through Asia onto a scuba diving trip off the Barrier Reef and stopping off for nightlife in Sydney and continuing to Ayers Rock and the timeless Aboriginal outback into the plains of North America, the Grand Canyon and a celebration with the gathering of Native American nations and finally into the great wide open, finally drifting into the Land Of Dreams ... thinking is the best way to travel!

Alesis Fusion and Korg Karma, Korg Kronos and Roland Jupiter 50 synths, EWQL vst instruments, Strat guitar and Ovation electro acoustic guitar like 'Journey To The Stars' are used on this album but also FX and vocal loops and just a smidge of vocal hopefully lending a cinematic imagery to this one ...

So, settle in your favourite armchair, with maybe a long drink to hand, close your eyes and take an imaginary journey round this 'Floating World' and celebrate the diversity of world music on the way ...

Thanks so much for listening:)

about

Lavallin Cambridge, UK

Hi all,
I play guitar and synths, doing a vocal or featuring guests ... making recordings just for the sheer enjoyment and fun that making music gives you.
My albums here are all imaginary journeys ... to the stars; around the world; through the seasons; back in time; even the soul's journey from this world to the next ... and back ...

Peace ... Graham:)
